Opening of the Greenhouse Project to Support Persons with Disabilities in Beit Ula

QADER for Community Development, in partnership with Beit Ula Municipality and Al-Rahma Charitable Association for Rehabilitation, officially opened the Greenhouse Project aimed at supporting persons with disabilities in Beit Ula on Monday.
The opening was attended by representatives from the Directorate of Agriculture - North Hebron, several community members and stakeholders, alongside active participation from persons with disabilities benefiting from the project, who expressed their happiness with this initiative as it opens new opportunities for them.
During the event, Mayor of Beit Ula, Mr. Attia Al-Adam, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of including persons with disabilities in economic and social aspects of life, stating that community development remains incomplete without their active participation. On her part, Mrs. Lana Bandak, Director General of QADER, highlighted that this project aligns with QADER's vision to economically and socially empower persons with disabilities across the West Bank, ensuring sustainable and inclusive development that allows them to live with dignity and actively contribute to their communities. She noted that this initiative was implemented through fruitful collaboration and partnership with Beit Ula Municipality, embodying social responsibility towards persons with disabilities. Mr. Saleh Aql, Chairman of Al-Rahma Association for Rehabilitation, also stressed that this project is essential for the continuity and sustainability of the association's services.
Partner institutions reiterated in their speeches the importance of this model for building a more inclusive and equitable society, calling for continued support for such sustainable development initiatives. Attendees were given a tour inside the greenhouse, which has been planted with tomato seedlings.
The project aims to enhance local capacities in inclusive community development by engaging persons with disabilities in Beit Ula, providing them with employment opportunities, independence, and participation in the labor market. Additionally, it includes involving children with disabilities in specific tasks and activities within the project, which have therapeutic and rehabilitative dimensions consistent with QADER’s intervention model.
This initiative is part of the project "Enhancing Inclusion and Resilience of Local Communities in the West Bank through Capacity Building," implemented in partnership with CBM International and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in 15 towns and cities in Hebron, Bethlehem, and Salfit governorates. The project aims to build local capacities for inclusive community development and enhance youth-led community accountability by activating the roles of both male and female youth within an inclusive approach that seeks to increase the social and economic participation of persons with disabilities. It applies principles and practices of accountability towards local bodies and official institutions regarding their responsibilities and commitments to persons with disabilities, thereby contributing to improving their quality of life.
