QADER Condemns the Assault on a Child with a Disability in Yatta

QADER for Community Development condemns the assault against a child with an intellectual disability in the Yatta area of Hebron Governorate on Sunday, September 14, 2025. This assault constitutes a degrading act against human dignity and a violation of the child’s fundamental rights.
QADER values the swift action taken by the competent authorities and urges them to continue pursuing this case to ensure criminal proceedings against the perpetrators, in a manner that upholds justice and fairness. QADER also calls on the authorities to take all necessary measures, including psychosocial and medical support for the child, alongside ensuring his ongoing protection. The organization affirms that it is closely following all procedures related to this case with the competent authorities to guarantee the enforcement of the law and the protection of the child.
QADER further emphasizes the obligation of the State of Palestine, as a signatory to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to ensure comprehensive protection for all children, including respect for the rights of children with disabilities. This is in line with the Palestinian Child Law No. 7 of 2004, which prohibits all forms of physical and psychological violence and guarantees protection for all children, including those with disabilities.
QADER stresses the urgent need to immediately cease the circulation of the child’s distressing images on media outlets and social media platforms, in respect of the right to privacy as enshrined in Palestinian legislation, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Protecting children with disabilities and holding perpetrators accountable for violations against them is both a national and moral responsibility. At QADER, we reaffirm our commitment to defending the rights of this child and all children, including those with disabilities, in order to achieve justice and fairness and to safeguard their safety and dignity.
