QADER for Community Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government, organized yesterday, Wednesday, a consultative meeting on assessing disability inclusion in local government units in line with the Ministry’s policies and strategies, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Sayel Hanoun, Director General of Local Government in Ramallah and Al-Bireh and the Ministry’s focal point on disability. The meeting aimed to present the methodology and tool for assessing disability inclusion in local government units, which were developed based on an in-depth study of the policies and legislation of the local governance sector in light of its commitment to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). It also included presenting the outcomes of the first pilot phase of the inclusion assessment in local government units.

The session was facilitated by consultant Shawkat Sarsour, with the participation of 17 directors and representatives of relevant general directorates and units at the Ministry of Local Government and the Municipal Development and Lending Fund.

This meeting was organized within the framework of the partnership between QADER and the Ministry of Local Government, as part of the second phase of the project “Enhancing Inclusion and Resilience of Local Communities in the West Bank,” implemented by QADER in partnership with CBM Global and funded by BMZ.
